Érick Gutiérrez Set to Leave Chivas as MLS Move Gains Momentum

Érick Gutiérrez is going through a difficult stretch at Chivas, and the club is already working to find him a new destination before the transfer window closes. The midfielder is no longer part of the sporting plans, and his future appears to be away from Guadalajara.

Amid this situation, Major League Soccer has re-emerged as a strong option for the former national team player. Interest from the United States is growing at a time when Chivas is looking to free up roster space and reduce its payroll.

One of the first clubs to inquire about Gutiérrez was San Diego FC, but they were not alone. In recent hours, reports revealed that LAFC has also joined the list of MLS teams interested in the Mexican midfielder.

A move to MLS is becoming increasingly likely as Gutiérrez continues to lose prominence with the first team. Chivas is evaluating scenarios that include either a permanent transfer or a loan deal, aiming to avoid carrying the full weight of his salary. Head coach Gabriel Milito’s decision to leave Gutiérrez out of his plans caught many within the club by surprise, as the midfielder had been viewed as a reliable option off the bench.

Milito explained that some players are unwilling to wait for their opportunity, and he chose to prioritize profiles that better fit his tactical vision. That stance effectively closed the door for Gutiérrez, who was eventually excluded from first-team activities altogether. Financial considerations are also a key factor. Érick Gutiérrez is among the highest-paid players on the roster, and the front office is pushing for an exit that would ease the club’s financial burden during this transfer window.

Two additional MLS clubs have approached Chivas to inquire about the midfielder, with LAFC among them, while Pachuca continues efforts to bring him back. With his future pointing away from Verde Valle, MLS is now leading the race to secure Érick Gutiérrez’s next move.
