Will Santiago Giménez Be Ready for the 2026 World Cup? AC Milan Provides Update

Updated: Jan 26

Santiago Giménez’s immediate future at AC Milan remains uncertain. Speaking at a press conference, the Rossoneri head coach was direct when addressing the situation of the Mexican striker, making it clear that his return to the pitch is not imminent.

The coach explained that while Giménez’s recovery is progressing positively, he is still some way from being match-ready. As a result, a short-term return is not being considered.

Giménez has been sidelined for several weeks due to an ankle injury, a setback that has disrupted both his adaptation and continuity with the Italian club. The manager stressed that there is no intention to rush his comeback, as doing so could increase the risk of a relapse.

The coach also emphasized that the Mexican forward will be an important piece once he is fully recovered, particularly with an eye on the final stretch of the season, when Milan hopes to have a complete squad available for key matches.

Within the club, there is confidence in Santiago Giménez’s abilities, although there is also an acknowledgment that his recovery process has taken longer than expected. The priority, they insist, is ensuring he returns at full strength—both physically and in footballing terms.

In the meantime, the Mexican striker continues to train separately, focused on returning in optimal condition and earning his place in Milan’s attack when the coaching staff deems him ready. For now, fans will have to wait to see Santiago Giménez back in action, as AC Milan remains committed to a cautious, long-term approach.
