Club América has begun reshaping its roster, and all signs point to Víctor Dávila nearing the end of his time in Coapa. Reports from South America indicate that the Chilean attacker is close to returning home to join Colo-Colo, one of the continent’s most storied clubs.
The deal is not expected to be a permanent transfer. Talks are centered around a loan move, although Dávila’s high salary has become a key factor. To facilitate the move during this transfer window, América would reportedly cover part of his wages in order to make the operation viable.
It has yet to be determined whether the agreement will include a purchase option or be limited to a straight loan for a fixed period. Even so, those close to the player are said to be open to the idea of a return to Chilean football.
From América’s perspective, the move makes sense for both sides. Dávila would gain regular playing time, while the club would create flexibility to restructure its squad ahead of the second half of the season.
Dávila’s potential departure is part of a clear strategy. América is prioritizing the release of a foreign player slot on its Liga MX roster—an objective set by the coaching staff.
That open slot already has a target. Raphael Veiga remains the main objective of the project led by head coach André Jardine, who is waiting for the club to free up the necessary space to complete the signing of the Brazilian attacking midfielder.
Dávila arrived at América with the expectation of adding attacking flair, but changes to the club’s foreign player structure have accelerated his exit. América is now prioritizing a different attacking profile as it looks to refresh its offense and reclaim full momentum in the competition.
If everything moves forward as expected, Dávila could join Colo-Colo in the coming days, where he would work under head coach Fernando Ortiz—a familiar figure in Mexican football—closing a modest chapter at América and opening a new one back in his home country.
