Toluca Comes From Behind to Beat Pumas and Remains Last Unbeaten Team in Liga MX

Deportivo Toluca delivered a thrilling comeback with a 3–2 win over Pumas UNAM in Matchday 9 of the Liga BBVA MX Clausura 2026, ending Pumas’ undefeated run and asserting themselves as the only team still unbeaten in the competition.

Pumas took the lead twice in an exciting match at Estadio Olímpico Universitario, with Robert Morales converting from the penalty spot and Álvaro Angulo restoring their advantage in the second half. However, Toluca bounced back — equalizing through Diego Barbosa and then taking the lead when Paulinho headed home late in the second half after a well-worked sequence.

With the victory, Toluca climbed to 21 points, staying within striking distance of the league leaders and strengthening their title credentials under coach Antonio Mohamed. Meanwhile, Pumas suffered their first loss of the tournament, a result that shifts momentum in the title race and highlights Toluca’s resilience and quality.

Toluca’s unbeaten status now sets them apart as one of the most consistent sides in the Clausura 2026, building confidence as the season progresses closer to the playoff stages.
