Scotland returns to the World Cup with a historic goal from midfield

Scotland lived a historic night in Hampden Park. The team qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1998 after defeating Denmark 4-2 in a match full of drama, spectacular goals, an expulsion and a VAR review that increased the tension until the final seconds. The Scottish team closed the phase as leader of Group C and broke a wait of almost three decades.

The meeting left unforgettable moments from the beginning. Scott McTominay opened the night with an impressive overhead kick that lit up the stadium, although Rasmus Hojlund equalized for the Danes.

Lawrence Shankland returned the lead for Scotland and Patrick Dorgu tied the score again in a duel that left no one breathing.

It looked like the game would end in a tie when suddenly, Kieran Tierney appeared in the 93rd minute. The defender received a frontal ball and placed it with precision to unleash madness in Hampden. Denmark launched its entire team on the attack to seek an equalizer, but left spaces that Scotland took advantage of in an unforgettable way.

At minute 99, Kenny McLean scored one of the most impressive goals of the year. The midfielder saw Kasper Schmeichel ahead and, from the middle of the field, he raised a perfect touch that traveled through the air and ended up inside the goal.

The stadium exploded. That goal closed the comeback and marked the beginning of the celebration of a country that had been waiting for this moment for 27 years.

The Scottish team had a solid qualifying round, but the way in which they secured their place in the World Cup made this qualification an eternal memory.

The team showed character, intensity and personality on a night where everything happened: controversies, goals from another planet, cards and an electric atmosphere.

Scotland arrives at the World Cup with a stable project, players in their best moment and a spirit that was reborn after almost three decades away from the top competition.

The country dreams again. Scotland is back in the World Cup and they achieved it with a victory that is now part of their history.
