The duel between Pumas and Tigres at the Olympic University Stadium started with great parity. Both teams were cautious, without risking too much in the first minutes. The first big opportunity came when a handball by Purata inside the area was reviewed in the VAR and, after being confirmed, the whistler awarded a penalty in favor of the Auriazul team.
At first it seemed that Gustavo “Memote” Martínez would be in charge of charging from the eleven steps, but in the end Aaron Ramsey took the ball. With all the expectation in the stands to see the Welsh midfielder in a key moment, his shot went wide. The former Arsenal and Juventus player wanted to place it to the right of Nahuel Guzmán, who went to the opposite side, but the shot went too cross and ended up outside.

The error prevented the university students from opening the scoring and left the fans with mixed feelings: enthusiasm to see the European take on important responsibilities, but also disappointment at the failure in what could have been his second goal with the Pumas shirt.
Ramsey, who for the first time started as a starter under the orders of Efraín Juárez, sought to consolidate his adaptation to Mexican soccer with a stellar performance. The failure in the penalty, however, marked the first part of his presentation in Ciudad Universitaria. Despite this, he did not lower his arms and a few minutes later he tried to surprise Guzmán with a shot from outside the area, which passed very close to the goal when the Argentine goalkeeper was already beaten.
Beyond the wasted penalty, the Welshman left signs of his hierarchy and the adaptation process he is experiencing in the . He seemed involved in recovering the ball and building plays, trying to connect with the attackers and giving pause to the midfield. Although he was denied the goal, he earned the approval of several fans for his dedication.
Ramsey came to national football as one of the most high-profile additions of the Apertura 2025 and, little by little, he has been finding his space in the squad. His debut occurred on Day 1 against Puebla in Ciudad Universitaria, when he played around 30 minutes. A week later, he scored his first goal with the university team in the victory over Atlas, a goal that ended up being decisive in taking the three points.

On the third date, the British player played just over an hour in the victory that Pumas achieved as a visitor against Mazatlán, and now, against Tigres, he received the confidence to start from the opening whistle. Although the opportunity to extend his scoring record disappeared with the missed penalty, his growth in minutes and prominence is evident.
The expectation around Aaron Ramsey remains high. The Auriazule fans hope that the Welshman can become a key piece within the Juárez project, providing international experience and leadership. The story is just beginning and, although the first start left a bittersweet taste, it also confirmed that the Briton is willing to take on the challenge of succeeding with the Pumas in Mexican soccer.
