PSG Raids La Masia and Signs Dro in Major Youth Transfer

Paris Saint-Germain has officially announced the signing of Dro, an 18-year-old Spanish midfielder who leaves FC Barcelona to join the French giants on a five-year contract running through 2030. The move brings an end to one of the most closely followed transfer sagas of the winter window.

Dro becomes PSG’s first signing of the winter—and barring any surprises, their last. The reigning European champions moved decisively for the young midfielder, successfully completing a deal that had been surrounded by uncertainty for weeks.

The transfer was not finalized through Dro’s release clause, which stood at €6 million. Although the player initially considered triggering the clause through LaLiga, PSG chose to negotiate directly with Barcelona and ultimately agreed on a higher fee, reported to be between €8 and €10 million.

From the outset, the Parisian club sought a direct understanding with Barça as a gesture of goodwill, an approach that helped facilitate the final agreement.

A key figure behind the signing was Luis Enrique. The PSG head coach spoke directly with Dro and convinced him to turn down offers from clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich in favor of the Paris project.

Dro expressed his excitement following the official announcement. “I’m very happy and very proud to join Paris Saint-Germain. It’s a moment of great pride for me and my family. PSG is a huge club that I’ve followed since I was a child, and I can’t wait to give everything for this shirt,” he said through the club’s official channels.

The transfer also symbolizes a thaw in relations between Barcelona and PSG, clubs that had experienced tension in recent years following the Neymar saga and disagreements surrounding the European Super League. Months ago, Barça president Joan Laporta and PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi had already signaled a rapprochement.

Laporta recently addressed Dro’s departure and admitted the club was taken by surprise. Barcelona loses a promising young talent, while PSG adds a player viewed as an investment for both the present and the future. Dro now begins a new chapter in Paris, backed by the full confidence of Luis Enrique and secured by a contract that ties him to Europe’s champions until 2030.
