Niclas Füllkrug Injured and Deepens AC Milan’s Striker Crisis

AC Milan have suffered another major setback in attack. German forward Niclas Füllkrug picked up an injury in just his third appearance for the Rossoneri and has been ruled out of the upcoming Serie A fixtures, further complicating the club’s growing striker crisis.

Füllkrug arrived as an emergency signing in December following Santiago Giménez’s surgery, but misfortune continues to follow Massimiliano Allegri’s side at a crucial stage of the season. The 31-year-old made his first start last Sunday against Fiorentina in a 1–1 draw, but was forced off after 60 minutes with visible physical discomfort that immediately raised concerns at San Siro.

Medical tests have since confirmed a fracture in one of his toes, an injury that will keep him out of Thursday’s clash against Como and the following league match versus Lecce. Milan’s medical staff remain optimistic about his recovery, with January 25 — when the Rossoneri face Roma — set as the tentative date for his return.

In the meantime, Allegri must reshuffle his attacking setup to stay competitive in a Serie A campaign that leaves no room for error.

Milan’s shortage of attacking options has become a recurring issue. Christian Pulisic has been sidelined since October with a muscular injury, while Rafael Leão continues to struggle with adductor problems that have limited his impact on the pitch.

The only positive note comes from Christopher Nkunku, who has gradually returned to action after recovering from an ankle injury. His contribution will be vital for a team desperately seeking to rediscover its cutting edge in front of goal.

At present, AC Milan sit second in the Serie A standings, three points behind Inter, after consecutive draws against Genoa and Fiorentina — results that underline the urgency of solving their attacking problems.
