The Mexico men’s national team has officially announced three international friendlies as part of its final preparation before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with matches scheduled against Ghana, Australia, and Serbia. The announcement was made by officials from the Mexican Football Federation as the Tri continues to fine-tune its plans ahead of the tournament.
Mexico will face Ghana on May 22, with the venue in Mexico yet to be confirmed, before traveling to the United States to take on Australia on May 30 at the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The final friendly will see the Tri host Serbia on June 4, again with the venue in Mexico to be announced.
These matches cap a rigorous buildup to Mexico’s World Cup opener against South Africa on June 11, giving coach Javier Aguirre the chance to evaluate his squad in competitive settings against a mix of styles and regions. Ghana and Australia both qualified for the World Cup, while Serbia, although not heading to the tournament, provides a strong European test before the global stage.
In addition to these three fixtures, Mexico’s preparation slate includes matches earlier in the year against Islandia, Portugal, and Bélgica, forming a comprehensive schedule designed to sharpen tactics, assess fitness, and help define the final roster for the World Cup.
