Real Madrid, leader of the competition, will host RCD Espanyol, third in the table. For its part, FC Barcelona, second, will face Getafe CF at home, which is fourth.
On Saturday, the Santiago Bernabéu will be the scene of a clash between two of the three teams that have not yet known defeat (along with Barça).
Real Madrid has four consecutive wins: they won their first three games and last weekend they beat Real Sociedad as a visitor. Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 12th minute, and despite the expulsion of Dean Huijsen after half an hour, the whites extended the lead before the break with a goal from Arda Güler. Mikel Oyarzabal scored a penalty, but the Basques failed to tie and Madrid secured the three points.
Espanyol, for its part, has just played one of the most entertaining matches of Matchday 4 in Barcelona, where it beat Mallorca. Pere Milla and Roberto Fernández put the Periquitos ahead, Vedat Muriqi tied with a double, and finally Kike García sealed the victory from the penalty spot. With three wins and a draw, Manolo González's men are one of the sensations of the tournament.
However, history does not favor Espanyol at the Bernabéu. The Catalans have lost 25 of their last 27 visits and have not won there since 1996. In the last 14 games in Madrid they have only scored in four, and Real have won ten in a row at home against this rival. The last time Espanyol scored at the Bernabéu was in the 2012/13 season, with a 2-2 draw.
On Sunday, at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium, Barcelona will host Getafe CF. The Azulones have started the 2025/26 season with three wins in four games, including the 2-0 win over Real Oviedo last Saturday, with goals from Mario Martín and Borja Mayoral, both assisted by Luis Milla.
Barça arrives with the most powerful attack in the league: 13 goals in four games. After drawing with Rayo Vallecano before the international break, Xavi Hernández's men were reunited with victory by beating Valencia 6-0. Fermín López, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski scored doubles.
The record at home is overwhelming: Barcelona has never lost at home against Getafe, they have won seven in a row and have not conceded goals in the Azulones' last three visits.
Even so, Getafe was one of the few teams that complicated Barça last season, when the culés won the title with 28 wins in 38 games. On Matchday 20, the Madrid team tied 1-1 at the Coliseum, registering their fifth consecutive home game without losing against the Blaugranas. Now, the challenge is to transfer that streak also as a visitor.
