Lionel Messi has once again given fans a rare glimpse into his personal football journey, this time during an extended interview with the popular streaming channel Luzu. The Argentine captain reflected on his legendary career, discussed his current life in Miami, and surprised many by revealing how he envisions his future once he finally hangs up his boots.
The Rosario native spoke with pride about the path he has built in football, acknowledging that he achieved goals that once felt unreachable. Messi described his triumphs with the Argentina national team as the pinnacle of his career, expressing deep gratitude and personal fulfillment.
Today, Messi says he plays without pressure, fully aware that he is living the final chapters of a historic career at both club and international level.
“Football has given me far more than I ever imagined,” Messi said, recalling how winning the Copa América and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar marked a turning point in his life. “After winning with the national team, I felt complete — everything else became a bonus.”
When asked about life after football, Messi was unequivocal. He does not see himself as a head coach and cannot imagine standing on the touchline giving instructions. Instead, he revealed interest in a different role within the sport.
“I don’t see myself as a coach. I like the idea of being a manager, but what I’d really love is to be the owner of a club,” Messi confessed. The World Cup winner explained that he dreams of building his own project from the ground up, guiding the development of young footballers and creating real opportunities for players trying to make their way in the game.
Messi emphasized his desire to create something with identity and patience, far from the biggest spotlights but with a meaningful impact on youth development and football education.
While that future slowly takes shape, Messi continues his professional career. The Argentine recently extended his contract with Inter Miami through 2027 and has not set a definitive retirement date. Although he admits the end is approaching, Messi is enjoying the present — and making it clear that his story with football is far from over.
