Historic Milestone: South America to Host Its First Women’s World Cup in Brazil 2027

FIFA has officially kicked off the road to the 2027 Women’s World Cup, marking a historic milestone as the first Women’s World Cup ever to be held in South America, with Brazil serving as the host nation. The launch event took place Sunday at the iconic Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, in a celebration that blended football, culture, music, and art.

During the ceremony—organized by FIFA with the participation of government officials, sports figures, and artists—the tournament’s visual identity was unveiled, including its official emblem and the slogan GO EPIC™, a message designed to represent energy, inclusion, and emotion.

The emblem’s design draws inspiration from elements of the Brazilian flag and geometric shapes found on a football pitch, creatively merging the letters “W” (for women and world) and “M” (for mulheres and mundo). The result is a dynamic symbol that reflects movement, excellence, and global connection.

In addition to the logo and slogan, FIFA introduced a unique sound identity rooted in Brazilian rhythms, samba, and Afro-Brazilian heritage. This audio branding is intended to capture the joy, passion, and energy of women’s football across all communication platforms.

The ceremony also served as a cultural and sporting celebration, with streets near the beach filled with urban art, music, and vibrant colors. Legendary figures from both women’s and men’s football shared the stage, highlighting the significance of the tournament.

According to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the 2027 Women’s World Cup represents more than just a sporting event. It stands as a major step forward for the growth and global visibility of women’s football and an opportunity to inspire new generations around the world.

The 2027 edition will officially become the first Women’s World Cup hosted in South America, a long-awaited moment for football fans worldwide.
