Gilberto Mora’s absence from Mexico’s recent friendlies against Panama and Bolivia raised immediate concerns. Although Club Tijuana did not release an official statement, reports from medical circles suggested the injury was more delicate than initially expected.
At first, the national team’s medical staff identified what appeared to be a muscle issue and decided to send Mora back to Tijuana for further evaluation. That decision fueled uncertainty, as both the club and the national team avoided providing clear details about the young player’s condition.
As days passed, the picture became clearer. Fox Sports journalist Jessica Zamora reported that medical tests confirmed a diagnosis of pubalgia—an injury that typically requires careful management and recovery time.
The diagnosis brought some relief to those around the player. Mora is not dealing with a serious condition and remains calm about his short-term future and his long-term World Cup ambitions.
While pubalgia is not considered a major injury, the medical staff has outlined a cautious recovery plan. Gilberto Mora is expected to miss several matches with Xolos, with an estimated absence of four to six weeks.
Avoiding a setback is the top priority. As a result, the club plans to manage his return gradually, without rushing the process despite his importance to the team’s project.
From a national team perspective, the outlook is more encouraging. Mora could be back in time for Mexico’s friendly against Portugal at the Estadio Azteca—one of the key matches in the build-up to the 2026 World Cup.
For now, Gilberto Mora is fully focused on his rehabilitation, while both Xolos and the Mexico national team closely monitor his progress, aware that he is one of the most promising young talents in Mexican football.
