Dayne St. Clair Joins Inter Miami as MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Ahead of 2026 World Cup

Inter Miami have officially announced the signing of Canadian goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair, who arrives in South Florida after completing a standout season in Major League Soccer. The 28-year-old lands with the club as the top goalkeeper in the league and with his sights firmly set on the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

St. Clair joins Inter Miami as a free agent after the expiration of his contract with Minnesota United. He has signed through the 2026 season with an option to extend until June 2027, and is expected to become a key figure in a squad aiming to remain a title contender under the leadership of Lionel Messi.

The Canadian international comes in at the peak of his form. During the 2025 campaign, he conceded just 30 goals in 30 matches, led the MLS in save percentage, and earned Goalkeeper of the Year honors — numbers that convinced Inter Miami’s front office to move decisively.

With this signing, Inter Miami continue strengthening a roster that will defend the first MLS title in club history. St. Clair’s arrival is designed to raise the level of internal competition in one of the most critical positions ahead of a demanding 2026 season.

His rise was cemented at Minnesota United, where he led MLS with 113 saves, recorded 10 clean sheets and posted a 77.93% save rate in 2025 — statistics that placed him among the elite keepers in the league.

Inter Miami highlighted his consistency and leadership, qualities they expect to translate into a more solid defensive unit. The club believes St. Clair will bring experience, composure between the posts and a winning mentality inside the locker room.

On the international stage, St. Clair has earned 18 caps for Canada since his debut in 2021. With World Cup matches set to be hosted in Canada in 2026, the goalkeeper is determined to lock down the starting role for his national team.

In addition to the goalkeeper signing, Inter Miami also reinforced their squad with Argentine fullback Facundo Mura, who signed through 2029, and left-back Sergio Reguilón — clear signals that the club is aiming high for the upcoming season.
