Charlotte entered the match looking to build on early-season momentum, while Inter Miami arrived with strong form but without Lionel Messi in the lineup.   The absence of Messi shifted Miami’s approach, placing more emphasis on structured buildup and midfield control.

From the opening minutes, Inter Miami held more possession, finishing with a clear advantage in ball control.   However, Charlotte remained compact defensively and limited Miami’s ability to convert that possession into clear chances. Kristijan Kahlina was called into action multiple times, including key saves on close-range headers in the first half.

Charlotte created their own opportunities, particularly through Wilfried Zaha and Liel Abada. Zaha tested goalkeeper Rocco Ríos Novo twice in quick succession during the second half, forcing strong saves that kept the match level.  Ashley Westwood and Pep Biel also contributed to build-up play, but Charlotte struggled to find the final pass needed to break through.

The match saw a physical edge, with several fouls and cautions issued. Yellow cards were shown to players on both sides, including Zaha and Harry Toffolo, as the game became more intense in midfield battles.

There were minor injury concerns during the match. Idan Toklomati required treatment in the second half, while Inter Miami goalkeeper Ríos Novo experienced a brief stoppage but was able to continue. While Inter Miami controlled possession, Charlotte came together for a complete defensive game. Charlotte FC is set to play New York Redbulls next while Inter Miami will be facing New York City FC on week 5 of MLS.
