Brazilian Star Andressa “Kaká” Ferreira Joins NWSL as Boston Legacy FC Shakes Up U.S. Soccer Market

Boston Legacy Football Club has officially announced the signing of Brazilian international midfielder Andressa Ferreira, widely known as Kaká, in a move that is already sending shockwaves through the NWSL and the U.S. women’s soccer market.

The 26-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract with an option to renew and will join the club as a free agent in January when the team reports for preseason training. Kaká arrives from São Paulo FC, one of the most prestigious clubs in Brazilian women’s football, strengthening Boston Legacy’s long-term project in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Born in Brasília, Kaká began her professional career at just 16 years old with Minas Brasília, helping the club earn promotion in 2018. She later spent two seasons with Santos before making the jump to São Paulo FC, where she experienced a defining phase in her development as a top-level midfielder.

Her breakthrough year came in 2025, when she lifted the Supercopa do Brasil with São Paulo and capped the season by winning the Copa América Femenina with Brazil, completing an undefeated campaign on the way to the continental title.

Kaká expressed her excitement about starting a new chapter in her career in the United States, highlighting the club’s ambition and commitment to player development.

“I’m very happy and motivated by this new challenge. Joining Boston Legacy FC is an important step in my career, with a club that is ambitious and truly believes in the growth of its players,” the Brazilian midfielder said after her signing was confirmed.

Boston Legacy general manager Domè Guasch praised Kaká’s technical ability and mentality, emphasizing her composure on the ball, international experience with Brazil, and long-term potential within the NWSL.

With her international pedigree, recent trophies, and room to grow, Boston Legacy FC expects Kaká to adapt quickly to life in the United States and become a cornerstone of the club’s sporting project in the coming seasons.
