Barcelona and Real Madrid Remain the Richest Football Clubs in the World

Real Madrid once again cemented its status as the highest-revenue football club in the world, according to the Football Money League 2026 report published by Deloitte. The figures correspond to the 2024–25 season, a campaign in which clubs across the globe generated record-breaking income.

FC Barcelona, meanwhile, climbed to second place in the ranking, achieving its best position since the 2019–20 season. The Catalan club experienced significant revenue growth, driven by a strong recovery and expansion of its commercial strategies.

According to the report, Real Madrid generated approximately €1.161 billion in revenue during the 2024–25 season, maintaining its position as the global leader in football finances. A sharp rise in commercial income played a decisive role in reaching that historic figure.

Barcelona closed the season with around €974.8 million in revenue, representing an increase of nearly 27 percent compared to the previous year. That growth allowed the club to climb several spots in the Deloitte ranking and reassert itself among the global financial elite.

The Deloitte list highlights the strong dominance of Spanish clubs among the world’s top earners, with Real Madrid and Barcelona outperforming traditionally powerful European institutions such as Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Overall, the report reveals that the top 20 revenue-generating clubs combined for more than €12.4 billion, the highest total ever recorded in the study’s history. This surge was driven primarily by growth in commercial revenue, broadcasting rights, and matchday income.

Alongside Real Madrid and Barcelona, the top five also includes Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool. The English club stands out as the highest-ranked Premier League side, fueled by strong financial growth linked to recent on-field success.

Beyond the numbers, the ranking underscores how modern football clubs are increasingly driven by global business models, commercial innovation, and off-the-pitch asset exploitation, transforming the sport into a more lucrative international industry than ever before.
