Arturo Vidal has once again placed himself at the center of debate in South American football. The Chilean midfielder boldly declared himself the most complete midfielder of all time, leaving out several global legends during a social media challenge that quickly went viral.
Vidal himself shared the video in a collaborative post with JugaBet. In the clip, the Chilean remained silent as different names were mentioned, only to claim the title of the most complete midfielder in history at the end of the exercise—without hesitation.
From the very beginning, Vidal displayed absolute confidence. None of the first names mentioned prompted any reaction, reinforcing the belief he has in his career and the impact he feels he made on international football.
The challenge was simple: “Speak only when a more complete midfielder than you is named.” Vidal accepted the task with a serious expression and firm posture, clearly convinced of his place in football history.
The list featured midfielders from different eras and playing styles. Names such as Leandro Paredes and Aurélien Tchouaméni were mentioned, but Vidal showed no reaction. When Ivan Rakitić came up, he briefly showed a hint of doubt, though it wasn’t enough to break his silence.
The moment became even more striking when Rodrigo De Paul’s name appeared. Vidal reacted with visible disapproval, creating one of the most talked-about moments of the video due to the Chilean’s mocking tone.
Casemiro was the final name before the list turned to all-time greats. Legends such as N’Golo Kanté, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Rodri, Xabi Alonso, Andrea Pirlo, Xavi Hernández, and Andrés Iniesta were mentioned—yet none managed to make Vidal speak.
At the end of the challenge, Vidal stood alone, reaffirming his stance. In his view, no other midfielder matches his blend of intensity, technique, goal-scoring ability, and competitive edge.
