Angelina Hix stole the spotlight on opening day of the Clausura 2026 season in Liga MX Femenil, delivering a sensational hat-trick to lead Pumas Femenil past Querétaro 4–1 at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario. The American striker stepped up in a crucial moment for the club, assuming full attacking responsibility in the absence of Stephanie Ribeiro and responding with a performance that immediately set the tone for the new campaign.
Since arriving in Liga MX Femenil during the Apertura 2021, Hix has been recognized for her power, mobility and ability to attack space. With a background in U.S. college soccer and previous experience with Xolas de Tijuana, she has built a career defined by consistency and adaptability—qualities that now make her a central figure in Pumas’ new project.
At Pumas, Hix has found the perfect platform to consolidate her career. Her intelligence between the lines and her determination in front of goal were on full display in a match where she embraced leadership, showed character and produced when the team needed it most. In just one game, she matched the total number of goals she scored throughout the entire Apertura 2025 tournament.
Beyond the goals, Hix transmitted confidence and momentum to a squad beginning a new era under head coach Roberto Medina, making it clear she is ready to carry the offensive burden and become the attacking reference for the university side.
On the field, Pumas Femenil overcame an early setback after Emily Flores gave Querétaro the lead. Hix equalized with an individual effort, then completed the comeback with a low, clinical finish. Before halftime, another action generated by Hix forced an own goal from Flores, and in the second half she sealed her historic night with a third goal following a cut-back from Cristina Torres.
It was her first hat-trick in Liga MX Femenil and a clear statement of intent for the Clausura 2026. With the three points secured, Pumas open the season with confidence and positive momentum. Next up, they will travel to face Atlético San Luis on Friday, January 9, while Querétaro will look to regroup away at Pachuca on Sunday, January 11.
