San Diego FC defeated Minnesota United 1–0 at Snapdragon Stadium to book their place in the Western Conference Final. The winning goal came from Anders Dreyer in the second half — a brilliant strike that secured passage for the expansion side in their first-ever MLS Cup Playoffs campaign.
It was a tight match with few real chances. Pablo Sisniega made three key saves and earned his second shutout of the postseason for San Diego. Minnesota goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair didn’t face a shot on target until Dreyer’s masterpiece in the 72nd minute. Minnesota pushed through set pieces and counters but lacked accuracy in the final touch. Once ahead, San Diego stayed organized, closed space, and protected the scoreline in the closing stages. Rosendo Mendoza officiated the match.
With the victory, SDFC will host the Western Conference Final against Vancouver Whitecaps, who eliminated Los Angeles FC in penalties. Thanks to their No. 1 seed, San Diego retains home advantage. Under Mikey Varas, the expansion club set MLS records with 63 points and 19 regular-season wins — a season strong enough to guarantee home-field advantage at least through the conference final.
Dreyer has proven himself as a true franchise player and the team’s most decisive figure. The Danish forward has consistently delivered in high-pressure matches and once again rose to the occasion on a knockout night. MLS recognized him as the official Man of the Match. Minnesota, meanwhile, fell short in the conference semifinals for the second straight year — making it six playoff appearances since joining the league in 2017. Eric Ramsay’s side finished the game without a single shot on target.
In their debut MLS season, San Diego FC now stands just one win away from the MLS Cup Final. With Dreyer in unstoppable form and a defense that steps up on big nights, San Diego’s dream title run stays alive.
