América Welcomes Back Henry Martín Ahead of Key Clash vs Pachuca

Club América received encouraging news this week as captain Henry Martín took a major step toward returning to action. The veteran striker trained fully with the first team on Thursday, raising expectations ahead of the Matchday 3 Clausura 2026 showdown against Pachuca.

The 33-year-old forward worked on the pitch alongside teammates who saw limited minutes in the recent match against Atlético de San Luis, strengthening the chances of a short-term return to the matchday squad. Martín missed the first two rounds of the tournament due to a muscle issue, but his positive recovery has allowed the coaching staff to consider him once again as an attacking option for Sunday’s clash in Pachuca.

América will continue to monitor his physical condition until the last moment. The final decision on whether he will be included in the squad will be made on Saturday, as the technical staff is determined to avoid any risk of relapse.

Recent injury setbacks have shaped the club’s cautious approach. Martín struggled with consistency last year, and América want to ensure that he is fully fit before reintegrating him into competitive action.

Although the striker has been working on the field since the start of the week, the coaching staff remain prudent and are carefully evaluating whether this is the right moment for him to log official minutes. If he is not cleared to face Pachuca in Matchday 3 of the Clausura 2026, Martín is expected to be available for Matchday 4, when América host Necaxa on Saturday, January 31, following the Liga MX break for international friendlies.

The captain’s steady progress has generated optimism in Coapa, where the club hopes to recover one of its key offensive leaders for the decisive stretch of the season.
