América Femenil confirmed its strong form in the Clausura 2026 by defeating Atlético San Luis Femenil 2–0 at the Estadio Alfonso Lastras. With this result, Las Águilas moved temporarily to the top of the table and preserved their unbeaten run in the tournament.
From the opening minutes, the Mexico City side controlled the match through possession, high pressing, and territorial dominance. However, the defensive organization of the San Luis side and several key saves from goalkeeper Ana Zárate delayed the opening goal for much of the game.
The first clear chance came early. In the 3rd minute, Jana Gutiérrez delivered a precise cross that Kiana Palacios met with a header, only for the ball to crash against the left post. América continued to push throughout the first half, while San Luis resisted with discipline and even managed a crucial goal-line clearance by Karen Cano.
The hosts generated little danger before halftime, their only real opportunity coming from a looping effort that struck the crossbar, easily handled by an alert Sandra Paños. América’s dominance was evident, but the scoreboard remained unchanged.
The intensity remained high after the break. In the 52nd minute, Irene Guerrero tested Zárate with a powerful long-range shot, forcing a spectacular save and signaling what was to come. The breakthrough arrived shortly after.
In the 60th minute, Kiana Palacios slipped a perfectly weighted through ball to Irene Guerrero, who finished with a right-footed strike at the near post to finally open the scoring and reward América’s persistence. The goal freed the visitors, who continued attacking in search of a second.
The decisive moment came in the 70th minute. Recently renewed midfielder Nancy Antonio collected the ball from distance and unleashed a powerful, well-placed shot that sealed the match. The 2–0 scoreline accurately reflected América Femenil’s control from start to finish.
With this victory, América Femenil now has three wins and one draw in the Clausura 2026, placing the team as the provisional league leader. Their next challenge comes on Sunday, when they host Mazatlán FC in Matchday 5 of the Liga MX Femenil.
