Allan Saint-Maximin has officially begun preseason training with Club América as the team prepares for the Clausura 2026 tournament. After several days of speculation surrounding his absence, the French winger reported to the club’s training facilities in Coapa to start his physical and tactical preparation ahead of the new campaign, which kicks off on January 9.
The forward arrived with authorization to rejoin the group later than his teammates. América opened preseason on December 15, and Saint-Maximin linked up with the squad over the weekend, putting an end to rumors about his future at the club. His return confirms that the former Premier League standout remains firmly in the plans of the coaching staff for the upcoming season.
Clausura 2026 is shaping up to be a defining tournament for Saint-Maximin in Liga MX. During the Apertura 2025, he made an encouraging debut and showed flashes of his trademark pace, creativity, and one-on-one ability. However, adaptation to the league, Mexico City’s altitude and climate, along with minor injuries, prevented him from finding consistent rhythm throughout the semester.
With a full preseason now underway, the technical staff expects the French attacker to reach peak condition and become a central figure in América’s attacking setup. His late arrival was due to a five-day special leave granted after the passing of a close family member. Once personal matters were addressed, Saint-Maximin returned to Mexico to resume work without restrictions.
América will open its Clausura 2026 campaign against Club Tijuana on Friday, January 9, giving Saint-Maximin sufficient time to regain match fitness and compete for a starting role. With continuity, a complete preseason, and renewed focus, the French winger aims to turn the page and establish himself as one of América’s key offensive weapons in the Clausura 2026 title race.
